Dawn Savage is a local singer and songwriter in the Pittsburgh area. She grew up in the New Brighton area and now lives in Darlington, PA. Dawn has performed locally in the Pittsburgh area for the past 10 years. Dawn stated that she started her singing career when she was three years old and would sing along to Disney movies as a child. Her first real performance was at a talent show singing contest in the second grade. As she got older, she would star as the lead role of Sandy in Grease at her high school play among many other roles. She attended college at Robert Morris University where she studied Communications and Theater. In 2011 she began songwriting and making her own music and shortly after released her first single called “I Could Be that Girl”. Since the release of her first single she has gone on to write many more songs and release a short album. She has won local competitions on local Pittsburgh country music station Y108 and has auditioned for singing competitions such as The Voice and American Idol. She has played at larger Pittsburgh venues such as Jergels and the Hard Rock Café in Station Square. She has opened up for country artists at these venues such as Aaron Tippin, Phil Vasar, and Joe Nichols. However, one of her favorite performances and places that she’s performed at was when country music star Kelli Picker invited her on stage to sing with her one time. Even though Dawn isn’t a big-name country artist quite yet she said she doesn’t mind keep her roots close to home and staying close to the area. She loves Pittsburgh and has stated that “people recognize Pittsburgh and they recognize Pittsburgh as a place where there is a lot of talent.” Dawn’s plans for the future include continuing to write more songs in the near future. Dawn has collaborated with some other local artists in the past and she hopes to collaborate with even more in the future. Dawn stated that she wouldn’t mind even doing a small tour of the Eastern states of the United States. Dawn has traveled to Michigan, Tennesse, Texas, Ohio, West Virginia, California, Florida, and even Ireland for her music career. She recently got married to her husband, Adam in May of 2019 and plans on starting a family with him soon. Dawn stated that because of this her music career might have to temporarily be put on a hold due to this factor but she never plans on giving up music completely because she loves being on stage and performing way too much. One of Dawn’s favorite things about her life is being able to perform on stage on express her life through music to her audience, family, and friends. Dawn stated that growing up in the Pittsburgh area was the perfect place to do that in because she loves the environment and people that have supported her work in the area, and that she wouldn’t have wanted it to be any other way.
